Ruben (ATP-139) has reached the final qualifying round of the Miami Open. He defeated Slovakian Jozef Kovalik (ATP-129) in three sets.
Ruben played against Kovalik for the second time in his career, last year he lost in straight sets during the qualifying tournament at the Australian Open. Also in Miami Ruben was running behind the facts, but he was able to turn the tide. After 1 hour and 42 minutes Ruben won 1-6 7-5 and 6-3.
In the second and final qualifying round he will face American Tim Smyczek (ATP-166), Ruben won their only previous encounter.
