Ruben (ATP-188) needs to win one more match to reach the main draw at Wimbledon. In his second qualifying match he beat the Spaniard Adrian Menendez-Maceiras (ATP-218) in three sets.
Ruben lost the first set 4-6 but took the second set with 6-3 and leveled the match. In a close third set the Belgian immediately broke his opponent's serve, but the Spaniard came back and served for the match at 5-3. However Ruben fought back and won a thrilling third set 11-9.
In the deciding qualifying match Ruben will face Daniel Brands (ATP-130). The Germain won four of their seven previous encounters.
