Ruben captures fifteenth singles title in Westende

Ruben (ATP-177) has captured his fifteenth singles title on the Risings Stars Tennis Tournament of Westende (Future; $ 10 000) in Belgium. In the final, he proved too strong for a solid Yannick Mertens (ATP-224).

Earlier during the week, Ruben and Mertens already conquered the doubles competition, and as respectively the first and second seeds in singles, their run both ended in the singles final. In that final, the audience witnessed a high-level game between two solid players. However, in the first set it was Ruben who was a little more accurate, capturing it 6-3. A close second set had to be decided in a tiebreaker in which Mertens was the dominant player: 6-7 (3). In the deciding set, it was again Ruben who was on top, winning it 6-1.

This win marks Ruben's eleventh Futures singles title, making it his fifteenth singles title altogether.
