Ruben (ATP-104) has reached the main draw at Wimbledon. He beat the Australian Bernard Tomic (ATP-162) in three sets.
Ruben started his match well against "enfant terrible" Tomic. The Australian, who peaked on 17th place on the ATP ranking in 2016, lost the first set 6-3. Ruben then even stepped up his game, he won the second set with 6-1. Tomic took a medical timeout and was given some medication, but this did not help, the third set also went to Ruben 6-2. The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes.
It is the sixth time that Ruben reached the main draw at Wimbledon, last year he achieved his best result by reaching the third round. The Belgian was very happy with his victory: "Grass is my favorite surface, I am very happy to be back on the main draw, three victories here in the qualifications give me a lot of confidence."
