Ruben (ATP-256) was not able to win his opening match at the Challenger Tournament of Ann Arbor (United States, CH 80). Also in the doubles he lost immediately.
Ruben was seeded fifth in Ann Arbor and had a bye in the first round. In the second round he faced the 21-year-old American Aleksandar Kovacevic (ATP-562), who got a wildcard for the tournament. The Belgian had to surrender with 2-6 and 4-6 after 1 hour and 16 minutes.
Also in the doubles Ruben (ATP D-192) was immediately eliminated alongside Nino Serdarusic (ATP D-503). The Belgian-Croatian pair lost 3-6 and 3-6 to fourth seeds Treat Huey (ATP D-165) and Nathaniel Lammons (ATP D-92).
