Ruben (ATP-225) is performing well at the challenger tournament of Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan, CH 80). He reached the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles.
Ruben, seeded ninth in Kazakhstan, had to face seventh seed Denis Istomin (ATP-164) in the third round. Istomin took the best start and leaded 0-3 in the first set. Ruben fought back and took the first set 6-4. Also in the second set Istomin took the lead, but Ruben managed to get to a tiebreak. The Belgian was leading 4-1 in the tiebreak, when Istomin decided to retire. In the quarterfinals Ruben will face either the second seed Evgeny Donskoy (ATP-116) or Cem Ilkel (ATP-281).
Ruben (ATP D-220) also caused an upset in the doubles together with Zdenek Kolar (ATP D-177). In the first round they eliminated top seeds Denys Molchanov (ATP D-72) and Andrei Vasilevski (ATP D-86) with 7-5 and 6-3. In the quarterfinals they will play against Serbs Viktor Troicki (NG) and Nenad Zimonjic (ATP D-609).
