Ruben (ATP-104) has reached the second round of Wimbledon. He made beat the American Steve Johnson (ATP-42) in five sets.
Ruben started his match against Johnson well, he won the first two sets with 7-5 and 6-3. The Belgian seemed to be heading for an easy victory, but Johnson won the third set with 4-6.
In the fourth set Ruben took the lead and he got a first match point. He could not convert that, however, and the American forced a tiebreak. The Belgian made too many mistakes and lost the tiebreak with 6-7 (0). In the fifth set both players were equally matched. Both players got break points, but they went up to 6-6. Ruben broke the American's serve and finished it on his own serve: 8-6. The match lasted 3 hours and 47 minutes.
In the second round Ruben has to compete against the American John Isner (ATP-10).
