On the first day of the qualifications for Wimbledon (Great Britain, Grand Slam), Ruben (ATP-171) won his first match.
Ruben faced a difficult challenge against Swede Elias Ymer (ATP-120). In the first set, Ruben broke his opponent's serve twice and took the set 6-3. In the second set it was a close battle between both players, a tiebreak had to bring the decision and it went to Ymer 6-7 (4). In the third set the Swede was up 0-3 and he had even chances to take a double break, but Ruben still managed to turn the match around. The Belgian shifted up a gear and won the third set 6-4.
In the second round Ruben will face Australian Akira Santillan (ATP-238).
